How to send a test email

Follow the simple workflow to run an email test with sendtestmail.com, check status, and keep your inbox ready for real customers.

1. Enter your email address

Tell the email tester where to send a test message. We validate format instantly so you can avoid typos.

2. Send test mail instantly

We deliver a lightweight email with tracking metadata and generate a unique status ID to monitor delivery.

3. Track status and confirm

Use your test ID to check if the email was sent, delivered, or bounced, then confirm success in your inbox or spam folder.

Knowledge base

Email tester FAQ

Everything you need to know before you send a test email and share the delivery status with your team.

How do I test email delivery?
Enter the inbox you want to test and send a message. We give you a status ID, then show the delivery timeline so you can see whether the message was sent, delayed, delivered, or rejected.
Is this email tester really free?
Yes. Manual email tests are free. We only rate-limit abusive bursts so the service stays responsive for legitimate checks.
Do I need an account to send a test email?
No. You can send a manual test and inspect its status without signing in. An account is optional and gives you access to the dashboard and recurring Inbox Monitors.
What if the test email does not arrive?
Check the spam folder, then open the status report with your ID. It shows the provider events and whether the message was delayed, bounced, rejected, or delivered.
What is an Inbox Monitor?
An Inbox Monitor sends a recurring test email to an inbox you verify. It lets you catch delivery changes without having to remember a manual check. Set one up.
When will I get an Inbox Monitor alert?
After you create a monitor from the dashboard, we email the address on your account when a scheduled check fails. We send another notification when delivery recovers.
How often can I run a manual test?
Run manual tests whenever you need to validate a change. The only limit is protection against excessive automated bursts.
Can this help diagnose spam filtering?
Yes. The status timeline helps you distinguish a provider rejection, delivery delay, or successful handoff. Check the inbox and spam folder alongside the report for the complete picture.
Do you store my email address?
We minimize what we retain. Manual test addresses are not stored as raw values in the delivery history, and operational data is obfuscated or hashed where possible. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Can I test a private email alias?
Launch a privacy-first inbox with AccountProxy - a secure email alias and forwarding service that shields your real address. Create anonymous mailboxes, route messages through encrypted relays, and keep marketing senders away from your primary inbox.
Is SendTestMail suitable for privacy-conscious teams?
Yes. We keep the service focused on delivery diagnostics, minimize retained data, and avoid adding raw email addresses or message content to product analytics.
